My Dilema on This Day

Well, it's Thursday and the week is coming to an end at a good rate. The weekend is almost upon us and it's time to make plans. However, I've run into a little bit of a decision-making step that I don't feel well prepared to make yet.

My parents are headed out of town for a week, which leaves me an open house for a good amount of time. Being it still the summer time, I've got a few more weeks left with all of my friends back home before I, at least, won't be coming home during summer vacation anymore. So, I figured it was time for another good ol' fashioned house party. It was intended to be the only thing happening this weekend, thus assuring a good turnout. However, something came up...

I figured it'd be something similar to this...

This weekend, some people are going to Austin to some rush parties. KA is having their pre-Fall semester foam party, which was a blast last year. And, on the very next day, FIJI is having their pre-Fall semester Islander, which I attended at Tech (theirs is in the Spring semester) and it was, well, outstanding.

6th Street, Austin...yea it doesn't look fun at all, I know.

So now I'm stuck...my good friend (we'll call him 'Ginger') is a KA and he really wants me to come down there with him. And, in all reality, I want to as well. However, there are a few particulars I'm considering in this pickle I've managed to get myself into, and they are as follows:

Little Bro: My little brother, who's not really that little (going to be a freshman in college this fall) would be home all alone if I did travel to Austin for the weekend. I see this in two different perspectives. First of all, my brother isn't near as responsible as me, especially when he's left on his own. I'd be concerned about leaving him at home alone, worried the entire time that I was in Austin that I may come home on Monday to a smoldering heap of ash. On the other side, it'd be cool to have a joint get together with him, one that would include both his and my friends. It would not only increase the overall turnout of the shindig, but it's not often that I get a chance to party with my little bro.

Pic Unrelated

Money: Money, while it's not a huge issue, is something that sits somewhat in-between me and having an easy decision. In the words of my good friend 'Swole,' "I'd get way too fucked up and spend way too much money," which is entirely true for me as well. You see, 'Swole' was also considering tr (traveling this weekend too. However, he makes a valid point in that previous statement, because the same applies to me. I can afford it, easily, but I'm also going out of town again the next weekend, and the weekend after that, and I'm worried that my reckless spending habits may eventually catch up with me.

Opportunity: This is the biggest setback I'm having in trying to decide what I should do. Either way I twist it, I've got an opportunity no matter what I end up doing. It's not everyday that the parents, while I'm at home for the summer, give me the house for a whole week. But at the same time, it's not every day that a lot of people will be in Austin for two huge parties in a row. So, I'm stuck. I feel like there's really not a right or a wrong choice here, it's just a matter of where I decide to end up.

In the end, it's simply the fear of regret (once again) that's making my decision so difficult right now. There's another sub-category that I didn't include, and that was abandonment. My good friend, 'Freckles,' is coming to town for a wedding this weekend. However, she's not my main worry. 'Llorrac' is the one who I'd mostly be abandoning if I were to go to Austin instead of staying here. Even though I'm old enough to make my own decisions, and it wouldn't kill any friendships, I'd still feel slightly guilty.

I feel like something good could happen either way. No, not something good...something awesome. We could have a badass time here at home, and I could sleep in my own bed and save a lot of money, assuming the right people show up. However, what if the right people didn't show? Then it'd just be boring and nothing eventful in the least. Yes, I'd save money and everything, but at the same time I'd feel a strong sense of regret sitting upon my shoulders.

Or I could go to Austin and meet some awesome people and have a blasty But even that could flop, because the last time I visited Austin I ended up "walkin' around the streets...at 530 in the morning, hungover but still drunk, poor, shirtless, lost and cold."

Hopefully something will happen between now and crunch-time that will help guide me in the right direction. And, if not, I'll just say fuck it and flip a coin or something.

Keep Austin Weird, friends. Or make Wichita Falls weird. Something.

An Open Letter to the Boston RSox

Dear Boston Red Sox,

That is all.

Love,

The Texas Rangers

P.S. - Should have saved Beckett for game 3. Losers.

Hey guess what?

I've been way too busy too busy to get a lot of stuff done. I got to see these guys though:

Here's what else is new:

- Aersomith and ZZ Top was simply good, not great. Aerosmith didn't play many of his big songs, most notably "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing," which is what I waited all night to hear. ZZ Top rocked though.

- The Ranger game was awesome. We won, there were back-to-back homeruns, and I was drunk and rowdy. It couldn't have gone any better.

- Finished Catcher in the Rye. Finally.

- Got back out of shape. Ate way too much that was bad for me, so I've gotta try and get back into shape. Again.

- The ACL Schedule is out. Oh and by the way, Beastie Boys canceled because of "cancer." I feel cheated, and their time slot better be replaced by someone of the same caliber. If not, we'll see just how festive this music festival really is...

- Toured the Cowboy's new stadium. It is, for lack of better words, BADASS.

Be back later.

Last Night in Improper Sentences:

Here's a summary of the events of last night, all in improper sentences.

Got beer. Drank some beer. Went to a person's house. Drank more beer, whiskey. Played some games, stopped playing games. Went to a person's apartment. Big guy, cool crowd, chicks playing video games (?), smoked a cig on the porch facing the road. Talked about throwing waterballoons at cars from porch, decided against it. Got a funny text from someone that was at the same apartment as me. Talked some music, some rivalry, some mutual friends. Went back to original house. A few more people there, none very impressive. Decided to go swimming. Went swimming. Wal-Mart douchebag comes out and starts "challenging" us. I challenge back, he runs away and calls the cops. Cops catch us, ready to tazer us if we run, wasn't expecting us to be so respectful and mature. Sat on curb for awhile, making small talk with the police, trying to figure out douchebag's name. Got "barred" from apartments, but didn't get any tickets. Got threatened to be written a ticket if I went pee. Asked cop if it was embarrassing if I peed my pants if he wouldn't let me go. He finally let me go, in the parking lot behind someones car. That's illegal, but dumb cop didn't know any better. Lost nice shirt. Lost watch. Went to Taylor's, don't remember arriving or leaving there. Went back to apartment to search for shirt, which was the last thing I remember. Woke up in my own bed, safe and sound, with no damage to my vehicle or body.

Rating the Night: B-, mostly for the unfortunate loss of said apparel, but good memories.

Theme Song of the Day

Revelry
as preformed by Kings of Leon

Revelry by Kings of Leon is Wednesday, July 8th's theme song of the day. This song is perfect for any Wednesday because it supplements the joyous festivities that are included in most of our weekends. The song starts off with a fantastic first two lines, that really portray what most of us think we are on a drunken Friday night;

"What a night for a dance,

you know I'm a dancin' machine."

These opening lines really resonate within us because, well, who’s not a dancing machine after a few drinks? It seems like even the most shy, withdrawn people can dance with the help of a little booze. And at that point of the night, who doesn’t like to dance? The answer, my friends, is paraplegics…but I promise you if they could they’d be the most energetic of the bunch.

Throughout the song, we are enlightened to hear what most of us are thinking about at work, in class, or at Church. For example;

“So I drink and I smoke
And I ask if you're ever around
Even though it was me who drove us
Right in the ground

Although I think there’s some sort of underlying message in the song surrounding the singer’s difficulty in balancing his love for some chick and his love for partying, I just pretend that he’s constantly DTP.

Pictured: Revelry circa 1584. Or somewhere around there.

The most telling lyrics in the song are heard in the main chorus and are as follows;

“So the time we shared it
Was precious to me
All the while
I was dreamin of revelry”

And this is why Revelry by Kings of Leon is our theme song of the day. Nobody really goes out on Wednesday night because we still have class or work the next day, but it’s so close to Thursday that we can’t help but to “dream of revelry.” We’re so close, yet so far away, which is why Wednesdays tend to be the longest day of the week. However, this song’s mellow yet uplifting sound keeps us in check until Thursday night finally rolls around.

So sit back, pour yourself a Jack and Coke, and kick it for the evening, because tomorrow night it’s time to revel. Happy Humpday everyone.

Guess who this guy is going to see...

That's right, Aerosmith with ZZ Top in Dallas. It is going to be, well, awesome. Tyler, the girl Logan, and Caitlin are all coming with, so we're bound to have some fun. Caitlin isn't much of a fan of, well, either one...but she's coming whether she wants to or not. The night before we're going to the Rangers game, and guess who they're playing....if you guessed the Redsox then you're a winner. I'm looking forward to that just as much as the concert.

Oh, and I also just today heard about Perez Hilton getting cold-cocked in the face. My thoughts on that: finally. Now hopefully he'll mouth off to someone else again and this time get hit even harder, and perhaps a jaw will be broken.

Besides, who wouldn't wanna hit this bastard?

I'm excited to get started up again, and I hope you're just as excited as I am.

I'm back!

After having successfully inducing writers-block via "having more important things to do," I've got lots of ideas and am ready to start back up again! Hooray!

Here's a preview of some of the new ideas I've got (titles subject to change):

"The Science of Creep"
"Attributes of the Perfect Wingman"
"Picking Up Chicks: A Series"
"Beer and How It's Played"
"Blondes, Brunettes and Redheads: A Study"
"How Much is She Worth: An Essay on the Financial Dependency of the Modern Day College Girlfriend"

I'm also going to try and have a daily snippet from the life that is Logan, which will probably be short and include an absolutely gut-wrenching photograph to support it (because we all know that my writing alone is just pant-shittingly hilarious!)

Plus many, many more. Stay tuned!
